I am a graduate of the United States Military Academy, class of 1991. After serving almost 10 years, I worked in corporate America in operations, sales, and project management.  My true passion has always been DIY projects and after flipping and selling many houses, I have learned a few trade secrets.  One is that you can have many of the most expensive looks without paying for the most expensive materials.  I love being able to create things that others did not know were possible.  One of these biggest secrets is with countertop renovations.  In the process of flipping a house, I had to renovate a huge kitchen.  That kitchen would have cost me about $6,000 to $8,000 more dollars if I hadn’t found a DIY link to epoxy countertops.  I convinced my work partner to give it a try.  What I discovered was that not only did I save about $5000, but I added value to the home in unexpected ways.  

Epoxy is a lightweight alternative that didn’t require me beefing up the supports under the kitchen because of the weight of stone or granite.  It was a non-porous option that kept the counters clean and didn’t allow penetration into a porous stone surface.  One of the best benefits was that I could design the countertop in any color and style that I wanted to fit my overall design for the kitchen. From that first Countertop, I was hooked.  My creative side was kicking in and I wanted to continue to create new and exciting epoxy projects.  Now, I help others commercially and in residential kitchens.  So, before you give in to the heavy weight and expense of stone or granite, think about other alternatives.
